.

Equine Services

We have a large number of services that we offer for our equine clients including Equine Dentistry, Diagnostic Imaging, Surgery and Lameness Examinations. We also offer advice on vaccinations and deworming regimes.

Equipment & Hospitalisation

The Old Mill Veterinary Surgery has an undercover diagnostic area for thorough workups, and sheltered day yards and a large paddock for those patients who need just a little bit of extra care and hospitalisation. We also have stationary stocks used for dentals and certain surgies performed at the clinic and mobile stocks used for dentals and some examinations when conducting field consultations.

Routine Herd Health

We routinely perform faecal floatations and egg counts for sheep and alpacas and offer deworming recommendations for horses, alpacas, sheep and cattle.

We recommend either the 5-in-1 vaccination or 7-in-1 vaccination, which are used for the routine prevention of enterotoxaemia (pulpy kidney disease), tetanus, black disease, malignant oedema (blackleg-like disease) and blackleg and leptospirosis in cattle and sheep, including swelled heads in rams. The protection regime consists of an initial course of two vaccinations, followed by yearly booster vaccinations for both sheep and cattle. For optimal herd health management, all stock should be vaccinated at the same time, and extra care must be taken when introducing new stock to the herd in regards to their vaccination history. Please contact the clinic on 3425 2222 to for more information regarding the vaccinations, diseases and vaccination protocols.
