FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Does my cat need to be vaccinated before coming into the cattery?
Yes, we require all cats to be vaccinated at least 2 weeks before, and not more than 12 months prior to boarding at the Kitty Cottage. Your cat should also be dewormed every 3 months, and treated for heartworm monthly.

Can I bring my cats bed, scratching post and toys?
Absolutely, please feel free to bring any personal items belonging to your cat that will make their stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

What about fleas?
We administer a Capstar tablet to all cats staying in the Kitty Cottage upon arrival, and will wait 30 minutes before settling them in their new suite. The capstar tablet kills any last minute fleas so as to not introduce any fleas into the cattery, and is charged out at $3.90 per cat.

When can I drop off and pick my cat up?
All cats need to be picked up by 10 am when going home, to avoid a charge for that day, as we need time to clean the suites prior to settling new cats in. You may drop off your cat at any time between 8am and 5.30pm.

What happens if my cat gets sick?
While exceptional care is taken whilst your cat is holidaying with us, there are the rare occasions that veterinary treatment is needed. In cases like these, every effort is made to contact you before the necessary treatment is given.

Can I inspect the boarding facility beforehand?
Please do not hesitate to make an appointment with one of our nurses to show you around the cattery before your cat boards with us. Use this time to ask as many questions as you have and have a look around the cattery. Contact the clinic on 3425 2222 to book a time. The best times for viewing are usually between 9 and 11am, and 3 and 4pm.

Can I call while I'm away and see how my cat is going?
Absolutely, please feel free to contact us while you are away and check in and see how your cat is going. You can contact us either by email at info@oldmillvet.com or on 3425 2222.

What if I have a stressy cat?
Some cats are more stressed out by the change of environment than others. In cases like these, we recommend that you bring some of your cat's toys and personal items to make them feel more at home. We take extra care with these cats and make sure that they get settled in as soon as possible. It can sometimes take up to 24 hours for your cat to settle, but we monitor them closely throughout this period.
